LUDOWICI — Long County Probate Judge Marie Middleton swore in Casey Brady as the newest registrar for the Long County Board of Registrars.
Brady is the fifth registrar for the county. The others are Deeotha Johnson, Jessica Kidd, Sybil Futch and Chief Registrar Terry Gordon.
According to Middleton, job duties include keeping the eligible voters list up to date by removing convicted felons, deceased people and excessively inactive voters; and registering voters throughout the year.
One of the most critical jobs is researching a voter's eligibility if he or she is challenged.
"These folks have a difficult job, and especially difficult during elections," Middleton said. "They have to be able to adapt
to the changes passed
down from the state and give good service to the public."
The registrar's office is in the Long County Courthouse and is open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 545-2234.
