On Oct. 9, Ludowici City Council appointed Robert Parker as Ludowici Police Chief.  This comes after the untimely death of former Police Chief Frank McClelland.

“I appreciate the confidence the council has given me and look forward to continue serving the community,” said Parker.

McClelland was killed in September when he was struck by a car driven by Daniel Hill who was attempting to flee police. Hill was charged with six counts with homicide by vehicle in 1st degree and four counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense.

Hill remains in custody at Liberty County Jail without bail.

Parker was once a Long County sheriff’s deputy and is currently the Long County Commissioner for district 5.

“He is a longtime peace officer and came recommended by the people of the department.”  Ludowici Mayor James Fuller Jr. said.
