Man struck by semi

A man was struck by a tractor Saturday afternoon on East Oglethorpe Highway near the overpass by Leroy Coffer Highway.

Brendan Hodan who witnessed the accident said it appeared as if the man intentionally stepped in front of the vehicle which was traveling westbound at the time of the accident. According to Hodan the man had to be revived and later was alert and conscious while being treated by medical personnel. The man who has been identified as a Pennsylvania native was flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah by medical Helicopter.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper, Markus White said the accident is being investigated as a vehicle vs pedestrian and was unable to elaborate further as to what the man's intentions were. 

White said the accident is under investigation.
