On Nov. 15, Lieutenant Joseph McEady was promoted and will serve as the Assistant Jail Administrator beginning in January.

Lt. McEady currently serves as the Transport Supervisor, where he coordinates the movement of Liberty County inmates, U.S. Marshal inmates abd prison inmates and arranges transportation of inmates wanted on charges out of state.

In June 2013, he started his career with the Liberty County Sheriff ’s Office as a detention officer. In 2014, he attended the Georgia Public Safety Training Center to become a certified Deputy. Upon the completion of his training, he was selected for promotion to Sergeant, where he served as a Detention Supervisor until 2016.

Joseph McEady was born in Valdosta, Ga. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Army, serving 22 years until his retirement in 2012. He’s married to Mrs. Demetria Edmond from Homerville, Ga.

LT. McEady’s hobby is anything Georgia — “Go Dawgs.”
