Midway issued the formal call Monday for the special November election needed to fill the seat vacated by Councilman T. Gerald Lee last month.

Qualifying for the council seat will be at Midway City Hall August 17-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The qualifying fee is $162.

The city council of Midway has four seats elected at large; in regular general elections the four top vote-getters win.

In other business Monday the Midway city council enacted a policy requiring body cameras to be worn by police officers when on duty. The policy is for protection of the officers as well as the public.

Midway’s order for masking and social distancing were renewed. Visitors to city hall are required to wear masks.
