The military support community has launched its deployment discount program to allow businesses to support the families of Fort Stewart/Hunter soldiers who are deployed.
Dependents of deployed soldiers will receive cards that, with their military ID, will entitle them to discounts at participating businesses.
The businesses will be listed in the Coastal Courier and the Frontline and will be given distinctive decals to display.
Participants are asked to sign up by Friday.
The Hinesville Military Affairs Committee and the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsors.
Chamber Executive Director Kenny Smiley said, “The chamber is already receiving phone calls from military families about businesses offering the discounts. We’re very encouraged by the initial response the chamber has already received.”
Maryann Wilson, chamber committee chair and co-owner of VIP Promotional Products, said, “We believe we have an obligation to support our military families during this trying period. We often say that we support them and this is a tangible way to show them that we do.
“This is a win-win project for the business and military communities — the business community supports our soldiers and their families by offering discounts on goods and services and in return they will support us by choosing to patronize the businesses that offer discounts.”
Wilson can be reached at 977-6300.
Chairmen David Anderson for the HMAC and Gary Walker for the chamber said each business can design its offering to fit its individual situation.
They also noted, “Our continuing support of soldiers and their families is critical ...”
