More trees going up on Warrior's Walk
Fort Stewart salutes fallen soldiers

FORT STEWART - The 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield will honor ten fallen heroes with a tree ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, at Warriors Walk.

Staff Sgt. Steve Butcher Jr., 27, of Penfield, N.Y., died May 23 in Ramadi, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit.  He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team.
 
Pfc. Daniel P. Cagle, 22, of Carson, Calif., died May 23 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit in Ramadi.  He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team.
 
Cpl. Victor H. Toledo Pulido, 22, of Hanford, Calif., died May 23 in Al Nahrawan, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.  He was assigned to 3d Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Benning.
 
Cpl. Jonathan D. Winterbottom, 21, of Falls Church, Va., died May 23 in Al Nahrawan, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.  He was assigned to 3d Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Benning.

Spc. Alexander Rosa Jr., 22, of Orlando, Fla., died May 25 in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 293rd Military Police Company.

Pfc. Larry Parks Jr., 24, of Altoona, Penn., died June 18 in Arab Jabor, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Sgt. 1st Class William A. Zapfe, 35, of Muldraugh, Ky., died June 19 in Muhammad al Ali, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
 
Pfc. Joshua S. Modgling, 22, of Las Vegas, died June 19 in Muhammad al Ali, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Maj. Sid W. Brookshire, 36, of Missouri, died June 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
 
Staff Sgt. Darren P. Hubbell, 38, of Tifton, died June 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Spc. Joe G. Charfauros Jr., 33, of Rota, Mariana Islands, died June 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
 
Pfc. David J. Bentz III, 20, of Newfield, N.J., died June 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The soldiers' trees will bring the total number of trees on Warriors Walk to 348.  These Eastern Red Bud trees planted on Warrior's Walk serve as a living monument to the great men and women of the U.S. Army, the National Guard, and the 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers who were immortalized by their sacrifices.
