Command Sgt. Maj. Lynward Hall of Statesboro will lead Augusta's 878th Engineer Battalion of the Georgia Army National Guard in Augusta.
CSM Hall received responsibility of the unit Sept. 16, from CSM Barry Smallwood, who had been the battalion sergeant major since October 2006.
In civilian life, Hall is employed at Mobilization and Training Equipment Site on Fort Stewart as the allied trade supervisor. He has been a member of the Georgia Army National Guard for 22 years.
Joining him as he assumes command is his family: his wife, Casi Hall, two sons, Clay and Slade from Statesboro, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. (Lynda) Hall of Hinesville, and sister, Kim Slade and her husband.
