Hinesville Rotary Club President Dave Sapp Rotarian and Rotarian Vickie Cook presents a $500 check to Stacy McBride.

The Hinesville Rotary Club donated $500 to help a wounded soldiers’ care basket program after its organizer spoke to club members Tuesday.

Stacy McBride started the program for the headquarters company of the 3rd Battalion 69th Armor Battalion. The battalion deployed to Iraq in January as part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team. McBride, Department of Children and Family Services foster care supervisor, received the contribution to help purchase personal items, snacks, books and gifts for wounded soldiers returning from the war zone.

McBride’s husband is the company commander. She is one of the leaders of the unit’s Family Support Group. She said the baskets are needed to help wounded soldiers until they receive their belongings and provides a source of recognition to them.
