On Nov. 8 at 1:40 a.m., the Long County Sheriff’s Office stopped a speeding vehicle carrying a missing person from Virginia. The vehicle was speeding over 100 mph before the driver was stopped.

The vehicle crossed into Wayne County and was stopped before reaching Jesup Municipal Limits. The driver was identified as Jacob Sterner who was reported missing out of Burke, Virginia.

Sgt. Jeffers notified Virginia Law Enforcement authorities and Sterner’s family of the incident.

Drug contraband was found in the vehicle and Sterner was arrested and taken into custody on drug charges and traffic violations.
