MLK events start Friday

The Liberty County Martin Luther King Day Observance will span next weekend:

Friday: A Tribute
Love-It Productions will present a dramatization, “The Keys to Freedom: A Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” featuring local artists Charlotte Lovette-Norman, Kenneth Howard, Byron Miller and Ava Cox. It will be at 7:30 p.m. at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church in Allenhurst.

Saturday: Leadership Breakfast
The breakfast will be at 9 a.m. at the Old Dorchester Center in Midway and will look back on one of Liberty County’s historical sites. The Liberty County Chorale will perform.
Evening Youth Explosion
At 6:30 p.m. at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church, youth groups from around Liberty County will present poetry, dance, spoken word, rap, drama and music. The poster contest winner will be announced.

Jan. 20: Worship services
MLK celebrations of remembrance and praise will take place at local churches.

Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Day
The parade will line up at 8 a.m. in the Bradwell Institute parking lot. The parade will start at 10 a.m., and a commemorative program will be in Bradwell’s gym following the parade.
