A motorcyclist was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center after striking storm debris on I-95.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper John Snipe said debris, caused by severe thunderstorms across Liberty County Sunday evening, was strewn across I-95. A motorcyclists headed southbound in the left lane of the highway, struck the fallen tree limbs causing damage to the motorcycle and injuries to the driver.
Trooper Snipe said the incident was still under investigation and the condition of the motorcyclist was unknown.
A line of severe thunderstorms ravaged the southeast Sunday. Tornadoes from these storms were recorded in Alabama and parts of Georgia. The tornado in Alabama is being blamed on 23 deaths in Lee County.
The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management is looking into whether Liberty County was hit by a tornado. At this time it is unconfirmed but damage from the storm, such as downed trees and power lines, have been reported across sections of the east end of the county.
