cycle wreck 1

A high speed chase which began shortly after 9 pm Saturday night on E.B. Cooper Highway just outside the Walthourville city limits landed a motorcyclist in the hospital.

According to GSP Trooper Quincy Melvin the motorcyclist, identified as Chance Waller, 21 of Hinesville, is currently in the intensive care unit.

Melvin said Waller lost control of his bike while traveling at speeds topping 150 mph.

Trooper Melvin said a GSP Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop because Waller did not have a tag displayed.

Waller allegedly failed to stop and while traveling in the direction of Riceboro began to increase his speed and was clocked at 150 mph.

Waller lost control of the bike while rounding a curve traveling into the opposite lane where he rode the bike into a utility pole.

Waller was ejected into the wood line.

He sustained injuries to his head and was transported by ambulance to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.  He remains in the ICU.
