NAACP

The Liberty County Branch NAACP 67th Freedom Fund Banquet & Gala will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Club Stewart Main Ballroom, 1020 Hero Road, on Fort Stewart. The theme this year is Stronger Together: “When We Fight, We Win!”  The keynote speaker for the gala is Willie E. Gary, Esq.  The Freedom Fund Awards Banquet & Gala is the chapter premiere annual fundraiser and tickets are $50 and sponsorship opportunities are available.

The funds raised will help advance the Liberty County NAACP mission to help foster a stronger and healthier community as it relates to civic, economic, educational, and civil rights.  The funds are also used for four scholarships given to students in Liberty County.

This celebratory event will highlight the NAACP branch’s historical importance and will honor five outstanding community leaders in five categories: the Ralph W. Quarterman Civil Service Award, E.B. Cooper Award, W.C. Shipman Trailblazer Award, Mattie M. Hicks Amazing Woman Award, and the Aspiring Youth Award.

In addition, the 2018 scholarship recipients will share how they have benefited from the NAACP Scholarship and their first year of college.

“We are excited with what we have accomplished this year and look forward to honoring our past,” said Graylan Quarterman, president of the Liberty County Branch NAACP, “with a Ralph Waldo Quarterman Monument. We move forward with the momentum of our theme Stronger Together: When We Fight, We Win!”

The evening will begin as guests are welcomed with a red carpet upon arrival and move on to the President’s Reception, which starts at 6:30 p.m. NAACP Lifetime Members will engage 300 invited guests with Keynote Speaker Attorney Willie Gary, and honorees.

The ballroom doors open at 7 p.m. with the program and dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m.  The evening will conclude with live entertainment.
