City of Hinesville Mayor Allen Brown signed a proclamation two weeks ago declaring March 4-8 National School Breakfast Week in Liberty County Schools.

Liberty County School System made healthy choices available to students during breakfast all week. The USDA School Breakfast Program serves 14 million students every day, according to a news release from LCSS.

LCSS’s NSBW’s campaign theme was “Start Your Engines.” The week was full of activities to engage students and bring awareness to the importance of proper nutritional breakfasts. Volunteers handed out themed pencils and bookmarks, and the week ended with multiple raffle winners. Those winners were students who ate breakfast at school the entire week.

“National School Breakfast Week helps us educate parents and students about all the healthy, great tasting, and appealing choices offered,” Liberty County Schools Nutrition Director Stephanie Fox said. “The district serves over 6,615 breakfast meals daily through the federally funded School Breakfast program.”
