Nonprofits invited to enter community fund grant process

The United Way of the Coastal Empire invites nonprofits serving Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties to submit letters of inquiry (LOIs) for entry into its 2022/23 Community Fund grant process.

Letters of inquiry are required only for programs that do not currently receive United Way of the Coastal Empire financial support. LOIs should specifically address how the proposed programs provide safety net services to the most vulnerable individuals in our community or provide a pathway for upward mobility. The United Way prioritizes upward mobility programs that focus on meeting needs in the following areas:

· Quality, Affordable Childcare

· Ready & Resilient Workforce

· Financially Empowered Families

· Safe & Stable Housing

Interested organizations should review eligibility criteria and instructions at uwce.org/nonprofithq and submit a Letter of Inquiry by 5:00 PM on Friday, December 3, 2021. Selected programs will be invited to submit a full application for funding via United Way’s annual, volunteer-driven review process, which will begin in January 2022.

“For the second year running, the United Way of the Coastal Empire is excited to solicit proposals for new and innovative programs designed to help individuals with the greatest need in our community,” said Brynn Grant, President and CEO of United Way of the Coastal Empire. “We welcome program proposals from both existing United Way funded agencies, as well as from new potential partners that offer solutions designed to stabilize families in crisis situations, or that help individuals from low-wealth communities create opportunities that break the poverty cycle and support upward economic mobility.”

All programs funded by United Way go through a competitive review process to ensure their efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic impact. Knowledgeable volunteers and experts from the community carefully screen and select the programs funded by donor contributions. Their recommendations are reviewed and approved by the United Way Board of Directors. After selection, these programs are rigorously monitored to ensure they produce positive, measurable results. This year, United Way supports 54 nonprofit agencies.
