According to GSP Trooper Markus White, a Walthourville police officer was injured Friday night after being involved in an accident with another vehicle.
White said the officer was traveling westbound on Highway 84 when she spotted a vehicle heading eastbound without headlights.
As she was attempting to make a u-turn, her patrol car was struck by an F-150 pickup, damaging the driver’s side of her patrol vehicle.
White said the driver of the pickup was following too closely when the accident occurred.
The officer was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville complaining of pain. It is not known if she was hospitalized.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
