Official say they don't want to raise taxes

“We do not want to raise property taxes,” Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas told a handful of residents who attended the city’s first public hearing on a proposed .5 millage rate increase Friday morning. The city has advertised a proposal to raise the millage rate from 9.5 mills to 10 mills.
