Coastal area anglers get plenty of bites

Hello, everyone. Tight Line Jr. here, sending you greetings from around our area and the beautiful Georgia coast. Looks like we had lovely weather last weekend. It may have been a little windy, but that just helps keep the gnats away.

I have a few reports for you this week.

About two weeks back, my friends Buddy Powell, Lance Muller and Morris Slade were fishing with Rob Bragg and landed four nice tuna. The big catch was two wahoo — one weighed 48 pounds and the other one hit the deck at 50 pounds.

Last week, Bragg’s father, West, Clay and Buddy Powell had seven tuna, all weighing 10-12 pounds. There was one fellow out of Belvedere named Scott — he didn’t give me his last name — who landed 12 tuna deck side. I also have heard of some whiting and sheepshead being caught in our area. One friend of mine, who prefers I don’t mention his name, said he caught the limit on spottail bass and a nice mess of whiting a week ago.

If you need bait, Yellow bluff Marina has minnows and fiddlers. Sunbury Crab Company and Marina has frozen shrimp and minnows and Halfmoon Marina has frozen shrimp. Big Rudy at the Sunbury country store has local frozen shrimp and squid.

Well my friends, remember what Ol’ Tight line always said: Get out there and go fishing and if you do, remember to always to keep a tight line. I say hit the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down. Happy sailing and I hope you catch a big one.

Your friend,

Tight line Jr.
