The EVP Beach Volleyball Tours sixth annual Beach Bum Open will be Saturday on Tybee Island.

The EVP Beach Volleyball Tour’s sixth annual Beach Bum Open will be Saturday on Tybee Island.

The event is open to professional- and amateur-level players. An estimated 140 teams are expected to attend with at least 20 courts of play. Spectators can attend for free.

Saturday’s action begins with check-in at 7 a.m. Men and women’s pro doubles matches begin at 8 a.m. Men and women’s city vs. city amateur check-in begins at 8 a.m. with matches beginning at 9 a.m. Juniors and adult coeds check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and matches begin at 9 a.m.

From 4-6 p.m. Friday, there will be an EVP Academy Clinic for all ages to receive training from coaches with years of experience in beach volleyball.

The EVP Beach Volleyball Tour is the largest beach volleyball tour in the United States with 20 events held across the country from March through September. The World Finals of Beach Volleyball are Sept. 25-26 in Stockton, California. Professional players will compete for a $4,000 purse and a bid to the Palm Coast Pro Am on June 5-6 in Palm Coast, Florida. Registration for all players is open now and is $70. There is an added fee of $10 for late registration and walk-ups.
