Fall is the perfect time to land that nice, big catch

Hello, everyone. Tight Line Jr. here. Ol’ Tight Line says hello and hopes everyone is catching some fish.

Fall is my favorite time of year for fishing. There’s nothing like landing a big spottail bass along the edge of the marsh off a floating dock.

Well, here are a couple of reports from around the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire.

My man Big Jimmy landed 12 sheepshead, six trout and two black drum. "Billy O" and "Barnacle Bill" netted three spottail, two nice flounder and 10 croaker.

Joe Maley and party caught the limit on spottail bass. They caught and released about 20 trout and had three nice flounder.

Y’all be sure to come out to the Sunbury Crab Company on Sept. 26 for the Blue Crab Festival. There will be live music by the Randell Bramblett Band and the big yard sale starts at 1 p.m.

Gates for the festival open at 3 p.m., the band takes the stage at 4 p.m. and I’ll be serving up drinks behind the bar. Advance tickets are $10. It’s $15 the day of the show.

Yellow Bluff has live shrimp and minnows. The Sunbury Crab Company and Marina has live shrimp and minnows and Halfmoon has live shrimp.

Big Rudy at the Sunbury Country Store has fresh, local shrimp, squid, finger mullet and cigar minnows.

Remember what Ol’ Tight Line says and get out there and get fishing. If you do, always remember to keep a tight line. I always say hit the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down.

It’s always a good time to wet a hook.

Your Buddy,

Tight Line Jr.
