Fishing Derby Saturday

Due to weather on June 2, the Richmond Hill Exchange Club rescheduled its 17th annual Fishing Derby for Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on Highway 144.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with fishing starting at 8:30 a.m. The derby is free and open to children 15 and under, accompanied by their parents or adult guardian.
Over the past 16 year, thousands of children have particpated, and the Exchange Club expects a large turnout again this year.
The hatchery ponds have been stocked with catfish.
Particpants should bring fishing poles equipped and ready to fish, as well as bait, although a limited amount of bait and fishing poles will be available at the event.
Children 12 and under have the opportunity to win awards. Categories include first fish caught, total pounds and heaviest fish. $50 savings bonds and/or trophies will be awarded for the various categories based on age. Bryan Bank and Trust is donating the bonds, while the Exchange Club is donating the trophies. Also, all children are eligble for door prizes during the Derby.
Entry forms can be dowloaded from the Exchange Club Web Site at www.rhxc.org/fishing.html.
