Holiday weekend a great time for fishing

Hey, folks. Tight Line Jr. here, and I’m enjoying a lovely Memorial Day weekend. I hope you are out there reveling in the sunshine and wetting a hook or two.
I’ll have a full report on the holiday weekend catches in my next column but in the meantime, I ran across some cool news I thought I would share.
Did you know that Fort Stewart holds the official records for 10 of the top 45 lunker bass caught since 1992?
Some experts think that the next world-record breaker may be caught on Fort Stewart. So get out to their pass and permit office and start fishing some of the ponds in our area.
There’s a lot of water on Fort Stewart to be fished and the folks out there are more than happy to help.
Don’t forget this weekend marks the end of the local oyster season, too.
Why don’t you head down to the Sunbury Crab Company on Sunday afternoon for their Sunset party? The Midway All-Stars are playing this week.
There will be drink specials, oysters, brats and burgers. Head out and celebrate with friends and family.
Since this is Memorial Day weekend, I would like to take a moment to thank all the men and women who serve our great country. I am proud to be working among them on Fort Stewart.
Also, God bless all the veterans around the world for all they do and have done. God bless America.
Until next time, always remember what Ol’ Tight Line said: Get out there and get fishing and if you do, always remember to keep a tight line. I say hit the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down.
Have a great holiday weekend.

Your buddy,
Tight Line Jr.
