Hello, everyone. Ol’ Tight Line and Tight Line Jr. here. I hope everyone had a good old down-on-the-coast-style 4th of July. It sure was real nice to be down in the Lowcountry with family, friends, some good barbecue, a bowl of beans, coleslaw and a chilly beverage — now that’s living.
Here are some reports from around the coastal area.
Shawn Branson and Capt. Jake Horton hauled in 22 sheepshead, 17 trout and five whiting. They also caught two four-pound trout. Not bad.
Capt. Horton and David Varnedoe netted five trout, seven spot tail bass, three of which were 27 inches. They were released.
Jason and Lauren Jones, fishing offshore, caught four kingfish, two cobia, three grouper and four snapper. Now that’s a deep-sea platter.
We had one good dock tour by C. Loyd "Hippie." Dockside, we netted three spot tail bass, two croaker, one sheepshead, one black sea bass and one flounder.
Rayburn and John at Yellow Bluff have live shrimp and minnows. Halfmoon Marina has live shrimp. Barney, Clay and Joe say the Sunbury Crab Company has live minnows, live shrimp and refrigerated bait. Big Rudy at the Sunbury Country store has frozen shrimp, fresh local squid, finger mullet and bally-hoo.
Remember what Ol’ Tight Line says and get out there and go fishing. And if you do, always remember to keep a tight line. I always say hits the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch the cork go down.
Keep a line in the water, folks.
Tight Line Jr.
