Plenty of whiting to go around now

Hello, friends and fellow anglers. Tight Line Jr. here. Well, the whiting are biting and I do have a couple reports from around the coastal area.

Cleveland Wilson landed 18 nice sized whiting while fishing off the dock.

My nephew/brother, "Hot Rod" Hall, was out with his fishing buddy, Mike Chandler, and they netted 32 whiting. A couple of them were bulls. That was off the hill.

Here is something I was thinking about. I have nothing against fishing tournaments. I think they are wonderful for the sport.

But to all those young ladies and young gents still waiting and hoping to catch their first fish, it would be more meaningful if the first one came from a fishing drop, from a boat or fishing from the docks on a bluff just for the sake of fishing instead of a competition.

I know my first fish was off the dock at Branch’s Marina when I was 8 years old. It was a 54 pound drum and I’ll never forget it. Just a thought that’s all.

Rayburn Goodman and John at Yellow Bluff report having live shrimp, live minnows and some fiddlers. Halfmoon Marina has fresh shrimp but they are not live.

Barney, Joe and Clay from the Sunbury Crab Company and Marina have fresh frozen shrimp, live minnows and plan to have fresh live shrimp soon.

Remember what Ole’ Tight Line says and get out there and get fishing. And if you do, always remember to keep a tight line.

I always say hit the docks, keep a sharp eye and watch that cork go down.

Your friend,

Tight line Jr.
