Police investigate death in Walthourville
Walthourville death

Walthourville Police Chief Al Hagan reported his officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Cato Lane at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The caller reported a man in respiratory arrest. When officers arrived on scene, they found the body of a man with a single gunshot wound. WPD called the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to assist in the investigation.

Hagan said the investigation is ongoing. He said the body will be taken to GBI lab to determine the cause of death. Hagan said the GBI was called in to assist with their forensic technology. Hagan said it appears to be an isolated incident.

Cato Lane was the site of a mass slaying in January of 1998 where six people were found shot and stabbed to death inside an apartment complex.
