Police investigating shootings at sports bar
GATA shooting

Two men were shot inside the bar area at the GATA’s Sports Bar and Grill the evening of Sept. 17 shortly after 11:30 p.m.

According to Hinesville Police Detective, Kyle Larimore one person was shot in the stomach and the other person sustained an injury to his leg when a bullet ricochet striking him above the knee.

The man who sustained the wound to the stomach was transported initially to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville in a privately owned vehicle and later transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

His condition is unknown.

The other injured man was transported to Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart.

Lt. Rhett Dill said a suspect was arrested and is being questioned at the Hinesville police department. Dill said officers who arrived within minutes of the incident were able to recover a shell casing as well as a bullet fragment.

The popular sports bar is located in the 800 block of Elma G. Miles Parkway.
