Accident sends 6 to hospital

Six people were rushed to a Savannah hospital following two-car accident today near Liberty County High School.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. near LCHS on East Oglethorpe Highway.

According to State Trooper David Hall, a semitrailer lost is right rear wheel while traveling eastbound. The tire rolled into the westbound lane, where a silver Malibu containing four people was traveling. The Malibu swerved to miss the tire and went into the eastbound lane, striking a white Mercedes containing two adults and an infant. The Malibu spun around and landed in the woodline, entrapping the front-seat occupants.  

The infant was not hurt. The two people in the Mercedes were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, along with the other injured parties. Their conditions are unknown.
