Alleged felons arrestedon weapons violations
Holmes
Earl Holmes
What started as a domestic disturbance turned into a wild roller coaster ride for two men chasing a woman driving down Tibet road last Tuesday.
According to an incident report released by the Long County Sheriff’s Department, Edward Earl Holmes lost control of his father’s car while trying to negotiate a turn at a high rate of speed. The car went off the road, into an embankment and rolled over, injuring Holmes and a passenger, identified as Robert Lee Jones Jr.
It was reported by Liberty County Sheriff Det. Charles Woodall that Holmes was allegedly involved in a domestic disturbance earlier that morning and pointed a silver gun at his ex-girlfriend. When police arrived Holmes had fled.
Later that day, his ex-girlfriend phoned 911, informing the operator that Holmes had spotted her driving and began to chase her.
After the wreck, police on scene reportedly found beer bottles inside the vehicle and discovered a silver, Jennings 9MM pistol on the floorboard of the car. Both Holmes and Jones are allegedly convicted felons who are currently on parole.
The men were read the implied consent before being taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center where they were treated for injuries and blood was drawn to determine if Holmes was drunk during the incident.
Later, both men were taken to Liberty County Regional Jail where they are being held on a parole hold.  Holmes and Jones face charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Holmes may also be charged with terroristic threats, DUI, safety restraint violation and other charges.
