Attempted robbery at Interstate Unlimited Credit Union

An attempted robbery was reported Wednesday morning at the Interstate Unlimited Credit Union on Highway 84 in Midway. Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes said two people tried to rob the financial institution but did not make off with any money.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jon Long said authorities are questioning several people of interest. The FBI also is working on case.

Sikes and other law-enforcement officers are looking into whether the incident is somehow connected to the reported bomb scare at Midway Middle School, which led to an evacuation. The Courier will provide more information on both of these stories as it becomes available.
