A Fort Stewart Soldier was injured Wednesday evening when he was thrown from a bull, then stomped on by the animal, at a Ludowici ranch.

Long County Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Smith said the soldier, who is in his early 20s, was riding a bull when he was thrown from the animal.

Smith said when the soldier was thrown, the bull stomped on his chest, injuring him. The soldier was flown by medical helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Smith said.

The soldier was conscious and responsive but appeared to be disorientated, Smith said.

The extent of his injuries wasn’t immediately known. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at N.C. Ranch in Ludowici.
