An early Monday morning collision between a car and a logging truck in Riceboro sent a Brunswick man to the hospital.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Robert Balkcom said the man, whose identity was not released, was traveling toward Midway on Highway 17 when his 2002 Buick LeSabre struck a tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth Jones, 53, of Baxley.

Balkcom said Jones was backing up the big rig, which was filled with logs, onto Peter King Road and was blocking Highway 17.

Jones was cited for improper backing of a vehicle. The car driver was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was listed in serious condition, Balkcom said.
