A Hinesville man was struck by a vehicle and injured Friday night on West Oglethorpe Highway, police said.

Hinesville police Traffic Accident Investigator Michael Ramirez said the incident occurred at 10:46 p.m. at the intersection of West Oglethorpe Highway and East Hendry Street. According to Ramirez, the driver of a 2015 Toyota Corolla said the man was walking on the sidewalk when he suddenly darted in front of the vehicle, and she could not avoid hitting him. The vehicle sustained damage to the passenger-side mirror, which was seen hanging. The man fell to the ground and suffered head trauma.

Ramirez said the man was flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday afternoon. The accident is still under investigation.
