The Armstrong Atlantic State University Police Department is partnering with the Hinesville Police Department to offer a self-defense training class for women.
The class is a rape-aggression-defense course that caters specifically to mothers and their teenage daughters. RAD teaches techniques for protecting women in dangerous situations. The training will be offered free for Hinesville residents and Liberty Center students from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Liberty County YMCA, 201 Mary Lou Drive.
RAD, an internationally recognized program, allows women to acquire self-defense skills. Armstrong’s course will include four certified instructors, and women of all skill levels are invited. The program promotes education and awareness of self-defense and includes lecture, discussion and physical techniques. As a mother-daughter program, the course also can strengthen relationships.
