Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Elpidio Fratichelli was involved in a collision with a minivan after 3 p.m. Friday on East Oglethorpe Highway near Gen. Screven Way. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Sgt. John Snipe said Fratichelli, driving his cruiser in the eastbound lane, was dispatched to a call and  turned on his lights. He entered the center turn lane to avoid congestion and another car turned into the center lane from Flash Foods. Fratichelli swerved to avoid hitting it and sideswiped a 2012 Ford Edge driven by Brittney Aldridge before colliding with a 2005 Chevy Venture in the westbound lane. The vehicle contained Pilar Odria and her 8-year-old daughter. Aldridge was not hurt. Odria was treated at a hospital and released.
