JESUP — Georgia Department of Transportation recently announced that construction-related lane closures on interstates and major state routes would be suspended for Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Closures are suspended from 5 p.m. today through midnight Tuesday, Jan. 1.

“We anticipate heavy traffic over the Christmas holiday week, and we would like to make it a little easier for motorists to arrive at their destination in a safe and timely matter,” said Karon Ivery, Georgia DOT district engineer in Jesup.
