According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper T. Gaskin, Moore was traveling east on Highway 196, when she lost control of her automobile near the Rye Patch Road intersection. Gaskin said Moore's car crossed the highway, flipped and hit a pine tree.

Gaskin said that Moore was flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, but later died.

The trooper said the crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. and that it is still under investigation.
