BRUNSWICK - Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other federal officials have dedicated a new building at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center designed to help agents learn how to deal with problems in mass transit settings.

The $5.3 million, 22,000-square-foot, building dedicated Tuesday houses a five-venue training facility, including simulated bus and subway stations.

Law enforcement agents can train on surveillance, suspicious package recovery or shooter situations in a waiting room.

The Brunswick News reports a mock subway station in the building can help prepare agents and officers for terrorist attacks in close spaces.

Sounds from a typical subway are piped in from speakers throughout the room.

John Pistole, administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, joined Napolitano for the ribbon-cutting.
