A mobile-home fire Wednesday night in Long County has displaced a family of three.
According to Ludowici/Long County Fire Chief Richard Truman, the fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m., and the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. It took half an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Truman was told by the occupant she was frying chicken and had stepped out of the residence for a few minutes. When she returned, the fire spread rapidly.
The home’s three occupants escaped safely.
The Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire Department and Walthourville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Units responded to the call. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
