Authorities have not identified the victim of a house fire in Hinesville Tuesday afternoon, saying it could be next week before a positive identification is available.
They have, however, said the owner of the home is Donald Gilbert, 71. Hinesville Police Det. Tracy Howard said they are waiting dental records to make an identification of the man who was found in an office in the rear of the house, which sustained the most damage.
Howard said Friday it could be several more days before the information is available. The detective did not say how the man died, though his injuries appeared to have been caused by fire.
Hinesville Fire Department investigator, Cpt. Chris Moss, said the origin of the fire has been labeled undetermined because of the heavy damage to the home.
Firefighters were called to the house in the 900 block of Bradwell Street about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
