Foul played ruled out in soldier's drowning

The body of Cpl. Catlin May, a 3rd ID soldier assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, was recovered Saturday evening by installation emergency services from recreational Pond 28 on Fort Stewart.
A news release from the post Public Affairs Office Monday said Emergency responders received a call from fishermen who saw the soldier fall into the water, but were unsuccessful in attempts to assist. The soldier was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Results from a preliminary investigation do not indicate any foul play in the incident, according to CID. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
The 1st Brigade Combat Team will hold a memorial ceremony for May on Thursday. The time is to be determined.
