Liberty County sheriff’s deputies have their hands full this evening with an alligator.

The gator, estimated to be 9 feet long, made its way to the side of Highway 196 near Elam Church Road, west of the Hinesville city limits.

When deputies arrived, they found a line of cars parked along Highway 196, with people trying to snap pictures of the reptile.

So officers established a perimeter to separate the gator and the people and to keep the alligator from getting onto the road and possibly causing a wreck.

As of this moment, deputies are waiting for a trapper to collect the gator.
