An Article 32 hearing for Pvt. Isaac G. Aguigui began this morning on Fort Stewart.

Aguigui, who has already been indicted in Long County on murder charges in the deaths of Michael Roark and Tiffany York, is now facing the military equivalent of a grand jury investigation to determine if there is enough evidence to charge him with the July 17, 2011, death of his pregnant wife, Sgt. Deirdre Aguigui.

The government called three witnesses during the morning session, including the emergency room doctor who tried to resuscitate her when she was brought to Winn Army Community Hospital by Stewart’s Emergency Medical Services, the former chief of Winn’s OB/GYN who saw her as a patient, and the Criminal Investigative Command officer in charge of the death investigation.

The hearing is expected to continue through the rest of the day and could last several days, according to Stewart Public Affairs Officer Kevin Larson.
