A man was shot and killed in a mobile home park in Hinesville Tuesday night.

According to Hinesville Police Department Chief of Detectives, Maj. Thomas Cribbs, David Anthony Jones Jr., 28, was at home alone in the Tapco Mobile Home Park in the 100 block of Folker Road.

The shooting occurred between 9:15 and 9:20 Tuesday. The detective said Jones called a sister, who then called 911 to request help. When officers arrived they found Jones on the living room floor of his mobile home in lot 2 of the mobile home park.

He had three gunshot wounds in his stomach, Cribbs said.

EMTs also arrived and started lifesaving procedures and then took Jones to Liberty Regional Medical Center, where he died within the hour.

The detective did not say if a motive was apparent in the crime and that it was unclear if one or more persons shot Jones. There were no signs of forced entry on the home, Cribbs said.

Jones reportedly lived alone and worked at Applebee's.

Police are asking for assistance to find the shooters. If you know anything, call 368-8211 or 368-8215.
