A woman stabbed her husband in the neck after he attacked her in Hinesville on Wednesday evening, police said.

Hinesville police Detective Jeff Davis said the man was stabbed in the left side of his neck shortly after 7:30 p.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Pineridge Way.

Hinesville police Maj. Thomas Cribbs, the chief of detectives, said the couple had been in a series of arguments that culminated in the man attacking his wife.

She was in the process of calling 911 when the stabbing occurred, Cribbs said.

She stabbed her husband once in the neck with a kitchen knife, Cribbs said. The man was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The woman has not been charged pending further investigation, Cribbs said.

Cribbs added that two small children were in the home when the stabbing occurred.
