Jan. 10 Armed Robbery — An employee of a variety store on West Oglethorpe Highway reported she responded to a potential customer tapping on the store window. The man told her he had a space heater he wanted to sell. When she opened the door to ask him to show her the heater, he forced his way inside and raised a knife over his head.
He pushed her toward the back of the store, telling her he was going to kill her. When she fell down, he ran over to the cash register, which he couldn’t get open. He then grabbed several cartons of cigarettes and ran out of the store. She ran outside and watched him run to a nearby gas station, noting that he threw something on the ground. Witnesses at the gas station told the investigating officer they saw him get in a car parked at another nearby business.
The officer found a knife on the ground near where the woman said she saw her attacker throw something. Further investigation found a small flatscreen TV had also been taken.

Jan. 13
Second-degree burglary — A woman said her black bag was missing from her Toyota Yaris. It reportedly contained her Social Security card, platinum diamond ring and birth certificate. The woman said she left the window down overnight.
