I-95 interchange ramp detour set for Sunday

Drivers heading east on I-16 to I-95 north overnight Sunday should expect delays, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Contractors for Georgia DOT will have a ramp closure on I-16 eastbound at Exit 157B to I-95 northbound, and interchange bridge lane closures on I-95 northbound from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday.

The closures are for bridge deck work, and enforcement will be on site to enhance safety.

Detour:

If traveling on I-16 eastbound to I-95 northbound, motorists wanting to connect to I-95 northbound will take Exit 160/Dean Forest Road. At the top of the ramp, they will turn left onto Dean Forest Road toward the I-16 on-ramp, where they then make a left turn to enter I-16 westbound and connect to the I-95 northbound ramp.

Contractors will be working on I-95 northbound bridge over I-16, which requires the ramp closure to lay polymer overlay on the bridge deck and replace bridge joints as part of I-95 bridge preservation project in Chatham County.

These closure areas will reopen early if the work is completed ahead of schedule. All work is weather contingent.
