A jogger was shot in the ankle Sunday between 6-6:30 a.m. on Lee Place Road in Long County. Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Nickey Anderson said the victim, a 46-year-old male who survived, claims he heard two shots fired. One bullet struck him in the foot, went through his tennis shoe and lodged in his ankle.

The victim said he saw a small, dark-colored pickup on a suspension lift kit on the road near the scene of the shooting.

The Long County Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information about the shooting or the pickup to call Anderson at 545-2118.

The Courier will publish more details on this story as they emerge.
