ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has announced the firing of a juvenile probation and parole specialist in Claxton.

Department Commissioner L. Gale Buckner on Wednesday announced the firing of Johnny D. Waters from the department's community service office in Claxton. Buckner says the move came as part of a system-wide crackdown on policy violations and officer misconduct.

Buckner says Waters used his state-owned computer to view internet dating websites containing suggestive pictures. Buckner says the administrative inquiry began when Waters' supervisor reported that Waters' work performance had diminished. A GBI examination of Waters' work computer revealed he had accessed inappropriate websites more than 450 times while working.

Waters could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
