Possession of cocaine — A deputy observed a man holding a brown bottle get into the passenger side of a Ford pickup parked on the shoulder of Dave Williams Road in Midway. The deputy saw the passenger did not buckle his seatbelt and he stopped the pickup. As he approached the vehicle, the deputy saw a half-empty bottle of beer lying on the floorboard. As the deputy spoke to the passenger, the passenger picked up the beer and began to drink it.

The deputy obtained consent to search the passenger, who told the deputy that he had stashed a crack pipe between the truck seats. Inside the brim of the passenger’s ball cap, the deputy found a white, flaky substance that he suspected was cocaine. The suspect told the deputy that it was cocaine and admitted that he forgot it was in his hat. He said if he had known it was there, he would have smoked it a long time ago.

The man was arrested and the deputy removed the crack pipe from the pickup. No other contraband was found.
